Joy & Revelry is LIVE!

{I took a “one piece, two ways” approach to my vignettes. I loved the Hampshire Loveseat for its classic lines, versatile size, and pretty upholstery. In this vignette, I took a more laidback, eclectic approach.}
I am super excited to announce that Joy & Revelry has officially launched today! You may recall that a few weeks ago, I went to San Francisco for the Joy & Revelry Style Summit where I got to meet all of the other Style Mavens and we came together to style a photo shoot for the launch of J&R. Each of the Style Mavens, myself included, now have curated shops through Joy & Revelry!

{I wanted to infuse more glamour into this vignette, so you’ll notice the metallic rug, bronze nesting tables, and lots of gold accessories including Gold Coral Vases and a fun Tortoiseshell and Lucite Lamp!}
Joy & Revelry is a social commerce destination for consumers who are looking to be inspired by a variety of unique style perspectives. Unlike many home décor e-commerce companies, Joy & Revelry has forged relationships with many of today’s top “to the trade only” vendors, and established partnerships with vendors who previously only sold to brick and mortar stores, so you’ll be able to find pieces that you won’t see anywhere else. In my shop, you’ll see all of the pieces I used to style the vignettes pictured above, as well as items that I have hand picked because they reflect “La Dolce Vita Style”. I love all of the items in my Joy & Revelry shop, but I’ve outlined a few of my must-haves below.

High Point Recap

IMG_2942
Last Thursday, I got back to my regular routine after being away in High Point for seven days. I can always count on High Point Market to be two things: inspiring and exhausting! When I’ve gone to market for my job with Visual Comfort, we put in really long hours in the showroom and then go out to events and dinners afterwards, so we’re on our feet for at least 14 hours each day. Exhaustion aside, I absolutely love High Point because it is completely energizing. It is so wonderful to see so many beautiful things in one place and to connect with people who love this industry as much as I do. This market was particularly great. People are out spending money which is a great sign for all of us, the new AERIN collection for Visual Comfort that I have been very involved with was extremely well received by buyers, editors, and bloggers alike, and speaking of bloggers—I got to see a lot of my friends and readers which is always a huge plus.
IMG_2769
{Unfortunately, I can’t share images of all of the gorgeous new pieces in the AERIN lighting, furniture, and textile collections until July because a very important publication has the exclusive. Stay tuned because every piece is amazing. I seriously want it all. It’s so chic!}
IMG_2829
{At Visual Comfort, we introduced a lot of new oversized pieces like these amazing Morovian stars done in huge scale with an antiqued glass finish. They’re even more beautiful in person.}
IMG_2907
{Thomas O’Brien debuted this handsome new Solitaire collection, which I absolutely love. Aren’t the table lamps fabulous?}
IMG_2850

{The pendants on the left are part of Thomas' new Solitaire collection. They feel like a slightly more classic, polished version of the widely-loved Hicks Pendant. I know that so many of you love the Hicks (I have one hanging over my breakfast table!), but you struggle with the fact that it's become so ubiquitous. Perhaps the Solitaire could be a new option?}
IMG_2895

{As I mentioned before, Visual Comfort introduced quite a few new large-scaled pieces. One of my favorites is this massive Markos Flush Mount by the queen of stylish flush mounts, Alexa Hampton. It's perfect for anyone who wants a big, glamorous statement piece, but doesn't have the ceiling height to accomodate a traditional chandelier. This piece would also be fabulous in a bedroom.}

IMG_2836
{One of the highlights of Market is getting to see all of my peeps! I love running into my blog friends and readers. This time I got to see a lot of my favorite people (yay!), including Caitlin from Sacramento Street and Grant K. Gibson.}

IMG_2859
{Another  higlight of this market was seeing the gorgeous new AERIN collection come to fruition. I've worked very closely with her team in preparation for the launch and we couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. Seriously you guys, it's amazing. We also hosted a reception for AERIN where she mingled with our guests. She is so inspiring-- an astute business woman with beauty, charisma, and grace.}

{During the times that I've gone to High Point with Visual Comfort, I have spent just about all of my time in our showroom, as you would expect. I was thrilled to have been able to visit a couple of nearby showrooms this time around while on a lunch break or run to Starbucks! Design Legacy's Atelier Collection did not disappoint. I loved all of the abstract art as well as the abundance of Lucite.}

{This vignette echoes spring, doesn't it? I love the fresh color palette.}

IMG_2873

{I love this combination of coral and navy.}

IMG_2935
{I was so excited to stumble upon the Festoni booth across from Starbucks at Market Square. I loved SO many of the pieces in this booth and was happy to discover that this company is based in Houston!}

IMG_2921
{Festoni's assortment of pillows is amazing! They have so many pretty pillow designs.}

IMG_2929
{This chest features a zebra pattern achieved through bone inlay.}

IMG_2933
{Aside from their great furniture offerings, Festoni also has great ceramic lamps and chic abstract paintings.}

IMG_2934

{I love this shade of coral. The chairs are such a great shape and the Greek key trim on this pillow is at once classic and inventive.}
IMG_2936
{Another great black and white bone inlay piece, this time in the form of a mirror. I also love these pretty blue Murano glass lamps.}

{On that same coffee run, I was also able to make a quick pit stop at Taylor Burke Home. I loved this brass and fabric ottoman that can be customized in a variety of fabrics and also comes in Polished Nickel.}

IMG_2949

{I loved the coral chair and coral contrast piping on this loveseat at Taylor Burke Home.}

{And speaking of coral, how fabulous is this coffee table? The gilded frame is accented by little coral flourishes. It all has a very Southern-Regency feel!}
This was probably the best trip that I've had in High Point. I came home feeling inspired and energized, thankful for some possible new opportunites and ready to make things happen. To top things off, on the way home, I had a chance encounter with someone I had a falling out with a couple of years ago. It was so random to see her at the airport in Greensboro, NC, but thankfully, we had a good chat and were able to work things out. I'm sure you can relate-- the weight of such things can be so heavy. I had carried this in my heart for a good while and am so grateful that God gave us the chance to connect and finally let it go.
Did you go to High Point this time around? What did you find most inspiring? What were some of your favorite finds?

Checking In and Checking Out

Hi, friends! After a week in High Point, I returned home to my full-time job and a mile-long to-do list of things to take care of on my own time in preparation for two major announcements I have in the works. As you might expect, I am feeling a little brain dead at the moment and  as a result, try as I may, I just couldn’t find a room for today’s “Fabulous Room” feature. I searched high and low, but nothing felt inspiring or fresh enough this week. Maybe it’s because I am still coming down from sensory overload from my time at Market. However, I did come across some mind-blowing design that I am saving for a later date because it is just. too. good to limit to only one room. Prepare to have your jaw drop!

Anyhow, High Point was really fantastic. I will tell you more about that on Monday and will have plenty of photos to share (you can get a few sneak peeks on Instagram @ladolcevitablog) along with more fun posts for the entire week and one of the big announcements I mentioned before. In the meantime, I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I’m going to try to get a little rest in between projects! In all seriousness, I may have a ton of things to keep up with at the moment, but I wouldn’t trade this for the world. I am incredibly grateful for these opportunities and to be able to do something that I love so much and much of that is due to you all. Thank you for your readership and support!

Top 3 Strategies for Success

Hello beautiful LDV readers. Melanie Duncan here with another post to help you work smarter and live larger. I've worked with thousands of entrepreneurs around the world and lately some very strong themes have emerged regarding what it takes to become successful. So if it's alright with you, I'd like to share with you 3 very important strategies for success.

1. The grass grows where you water it. Do you ever look at successful people and assume that they have always been good at what they are good at? My research proves that this assumption is entirely FALSE! Make a list of the top 5 skills that you need to become successful in your industry and then spend your time focusing on bettering yourself in those areas. Remember you don't have to be good to start, but you have to start to be good!
2. You create your own limitations. The truth is that it is entirely up to us what we can and cannot do. Think that you could never start an online business because you're not techy? Have you avoided selling your services because you don't have a website? Not having a resource at your fingertips is not an excuse, it's just something to add to your "to do" list. Don't let attainable projects paralyze you with fear.

3. Never take "no" for an answer. Now this strategy definitely requires some thinking outside of the box, but it is unmatched in it's importance. When pursuing what you want to pursue there will be plenty of obstacles in your path, but a solution is never out of reach. You just have to learn to stick with it and try more ideas than anyone else. I run my Southern California apparel and home decor businesses from NYC. Why? Because I wanted to. People think I'm crazy, but I think not doing what you want to do with your life is even crazier.

So what's holding you back from taking the leap and doing something that you've always wanted to do? I'd love to learn more about you in the comments.

To your success.xx
Melanie

Jet Set: The Viceroy Anguilla

image
Hello LDV readers! Brendan here of (BAD) Blog About Design with a Jet Set post to Anguilla! The Viceroy Anguilla is located in West End, Anguilla. The property features fantastic living spaces as well as beautifully manicured grounds and great places to eat, designed by Kelly Wearstler. (ABOVE) The architecture of the hotel is quite modern. It's clean and smooth like that of the sand. With just a few short steps from the water, it's the ideal location for the beach bum! (BELOW 1) The hotel features breezeways that one passes through to get to their suite. The tiling is modern, and gorgeous! I love the armchairs, they have that beach feel, but are very chic. (BELOW 2) The infinite pool is a phenomenal place to kick back and relax. It's definitely a great place to swim laps or sip a drink and look at the views! (BELOW 3) One can relax on a lounge chair or one can have a seat at one of the seating areas and read a great book. The seating areas or wonderfully designed. (BELOW 4) Half Shell Bar is a great place to enjoy a drink or a quick meal. With fantastic views of the sea and cliffs, it's a must visit while at the hotel. (BELOW 5) The Ocean Villa's are detached large size homes. The Ocean Villa's are three and four bedrooms. The Living Room of the villa is bright with floor to ceiling windows. The villa's have an infinite pool! What do you think of the hotel?
